This Leaf-Shaped spear by Cold Steel has a head of 1055 high carbon steel. The steel has been blackened and its edge has sharpened – the edge is moderately sharp. The hard wood shaft is of stained ash wood. The spear ships disassembled and the head is securely fitted to the shaft with a pair of wood screws.

A common design throughout antiquity and the medieval period, the leaf shape spear flares widely from its tip which enlarges and widens even a shallow piercing wound.

Please Note: Our photos show an approximation of the completed weapon – we did not screw the head to the pole, this is why the screws are not present in the photos. Also poles may have slight bends or warps, however, we inspect them to try and pick the best ones available.

Turn over a new leaf! Get your own wood screws! This spear is badass once completed. That being said, USE YOUR OWN WOOD SCREWS! Out of the ones that were provided, one HAD NO THREADS, the other screw that did have threads broke off into the handle leaving the entire threaded part embedded in the shaft forever, which was a real pain in my balls.
Seriously do not use their screws. Go to Ace Hardware and you will find what you need and more, solid steel screws you can paint in any color you want. I chose red.
Once completed, the spear is one lightning quick spear that is easily maintained and controlled. Great for poking holes in the shield wall, or finding existing holes and exploiting them. Wouldn’t recommend throwing the spear (even though made from flexible spring steel, it’s not adamamtium, and hardwood targets can break shafts easily).
Makes for a nice minimalist approach to the battlefront.

Good quality for the price I ordered this spear as a gift for my cousin. Cold Steel products can be hit or miss, but Inwas impressed with the quality of this spear when it arrived. The head is very solid steel with a decent edge and pre-drilled holes for the wood screws. The shaft is pre tapered, and the wood seems to have a good balance of flexibility and stength. My spear pole is perfectly straight.

The wood screws are the only real problem. Mine function fine but they don’t sit flush with the spear socket, which is aestetically unattractive. This is a very minor flaw.

I attached my spear head with a little gorilla glue and the provided screws. It feels solid as a rock – a formidable weapon and a great gift, my cousin loves it.

Very nice hefty solid chunk of steel not stamped or hollow. Entire spear with shaft smaller than the thick stamped blade Boar Spear. I like the Boar spear but I love this one.
